Welcome to AMRSO!
AMRSO is an email mailing list for discussion of topics relating to radiation safety at academic/research and medical institutions. The AMRSO list was started in 1997 by Andrew Karam, and was based at the University of Rochester, NY. In September 2003, the physical location of the server was moved to the Medical College of Wisconsin, and moderator duties were taken over by Marcum Martz and Kimberly Knight.
Membership to the list is restricted to RSOs or their designees at academic/research and medical institutions (an RSO may designate more than a single recipient at an institution).
AMRSO has no formal affiliations with any other health physics groups, however many AMRSO members are also members of professional societies and groups, such as the Health Physics Society (HPS), Campus Radiation Safety Officers (CRSO), or the American Academy of Health Physics (AAHP). See the Links page for further information about these groups.
AMRSO is a private list. Opinions expressed are not necessarily those of the institutions for which members work. Subscription to AMRSO may only be done by contacting the moderator. Inquiries should be sent to marcum.martz@jpl.nasa.gov.
List Address/Info
List messages should be sent to: amrso@mailman.mcw.edu. A message sent to the list address will be forwarded to all subscribers at once.
Only members may post messages to the above address.

AMRSO Etiquette
Professional Content – AMRSO was designed to provide a low-volume, high-content resource to radiation safety professionals. Try to keep your messages “on topic.” (A certain amount of silliness is tolerated, after all, we are physicists. But for the most part, we keep that to “Friday” topics.) As with any group of professionals, some disagreements may occur. Keep messages that express disagreements professional and courteous.
Marketing – While for the most part, AMRSO is restricted to RSOs, a few radiation safety professionals from commercial organizations are on the list, by special permission. The AMRSO list is not to be used as a marketing list.
Privacy – Please respect the privacy of your fellow contributors. If you forward any emails outside the membership, be sure to remove names, addresses or any other identifiers.
Non-Member Messages – Individuals or organizations wishing to send messages to the AMRSO list should contact the list moderator. All such messages are subject to moderator approval.
Change of Address – Please notify the moderator (marcum.martz
@jpl.nasa.gov) if you are moving to a new email address.
