ANNOUNCEMENT RAT GENOME DATABASE 2.0 RELEASED JUNE 4TH 2001
The latest version of the Rat Genome Database is now available at http://rgd.mcw.edu
The major new resources introduced in this release are extensive Comparative Maps between Rat, Mouse and Human produced by our VCMap (Virtual Comparative Map) tool. Large-scale sequence comparisons between ESTs and cDNAs derived from the three organisms were combined with Radiation Hybrid map locations to define the regions of synteny. The comparative maps were then extended by the prediction of locations for markers unmapped in a species based on their known locations in the syntenic region of another species (Virtual Mapping).
